Privacy Policy

This page says what iPick knows about the people who use it, what it does with it, and what you can do about it. iPick is run by Adrian Guzman, in the United States. Contact: guzmangonzalvo@gmail.com.

Reading the site without an account

The pages open to everyone ask for nothing that identifies you. Like any web server, the one that serves iPick writes the requests it answers to a log, with the address (IP) each came from. Those logs are short, are overwritten as they fill up, and are used to keep the site running and secure.

What is kept in your browser

The site keeps your preferences in your own browser, so that it opens the way you left it:

  • the language (English or Spanish);
  • the light or dark look;
  • the league you picked, the order of the leagues and the market you were looking at.

They are not used to identify you. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.

Accounts

Accounts are by invitation. For an account the site keeps:

  • your email address;
  • your password, only as a one-way hash: it cannot be read back, by anyone;
  • what the account does on the site, such as the picks and the paper positions it makes;
  • if you connect a Kalshi API key: the key, stored encrypted, and used only for that account's own trading.

Cookies

iPick itself sets two cookies:

  • ad-trading-locale keeps the language you chose, for a year, so that the server answers in it;
  • refresh_token keeps an account signed in, for up to 30 days. It is only set when somebody signs in.

Advertising, where it is shown, brings cookies of its own: see the next section.

Advertising

iPick may show advertisements served by Google and its partners. Where it does:

  • Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Ads Settings. Alternatively, users can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Others your browser talks to

Team and league logos and player photos are loaded by your browser from the servers of their publishers, such as ESPN and MLB. As with any image on the web, those servers see the address (IP) the request comes from.

The site has no analytics or tracking tools of its own, and sends no newsletters.

Your choices

  • To see, correct or delete the information tied to your account, write to guzmangonzalvo@gmail.com.
  • To remove your preferences, clear this site's data in your browser.
  • To opt out of personalized advertising, use the links under Advertising.

Children

iPick is meant for adults. It is not directed to children, and accounts are by invitation only.

Changes

When this policy changes, the new text is published on this page with its date.
